I once told Jeremy that I would do the Polar Bear Plunge with him. This year it seemed convenient because Will is older and my wonderful, sweet neighbor said she would watch Cora for us. So, on January 1st, we woke up, took it easy and then got ready to go jump into a very cold lake even though it was very cold with the wind chill. The actual temp was 7, but the wind was blowing so hard that I couldn't see sometimes.
This was the feeling downtown. Cold and stormy.
On the way there, Will asked if he had to get in. We told him no and that we didn't have his swimming suit. He then talked about jumping in completely naked, but that he didn't want anyone to see. So maybe next year I'll bring his swimsuit and hope that it won't be so cold.
Someone had broken a nice coffin sized hole in the lake so all of us crazies could still "jump" in.
The icicles formed on Jeremy's hair as soon as he came out of the water.
I didn't get my hair wet, but up to my neck was enough!
Even though Jeremy went first, he had towels out and ready for me. When he got out, I had been too concerned about getting a picture and he had to wait while I got his towels out of our bags. I'm so lucky to have such a thoughtful, yet patient husband!
So I forgot to turn the picture before I uploaded it, but that is snow coming down to the street from the L train as it passed above us. On our way home, the traffic was slow because of all the snow. I didn't mind because the heater was cranked up and we all got toasty warm.
Hooray for a new year and new beginnings!
