All I Want for Christmas...

It's been awhile since I've posted anything, I was a little down while Jeremy was away and it was all I could do to just make it through the day.  However, this will always make me giggle.  Just had to share it with you.

Fun at Navy Pier

While all of Chicago were at Lalapalozoo, we decided to go to Navy Pier.  It was awesome because even though we went on a Saturday, we didn't have to battle any crowds.  It was just a fun day we got to spend with Jeremy before he had to go to Michigan for a month.

First lost tooth

So when we got back from Utah, Stef helped me pull out Will's teeth.  Or rather, she gave me the encouragement needed to do so.   First we pulled out what I realized later the least wiggly tooth.  Then I asked Will if we could pull out the other one.  "No!"  So we told him we'd just make sure the little piece of floss fit the other tooth for when we decided to pull it out.  Then I pulled out the 2nd tooth.  Whoops.  He was actually relieved when it came out so easily, and very excited the Tooth Fairy would pay him for 2 teeth for his first time.  Love this kid.

Utah Trip part 2

Grandma Curtis always kept this full for this little girl.  She would take a couple and then go read books or watch tv with Grandma.

While we were in Sandy, I got to meet up with one of my besties at Red Butte Gardens.  The kids liked being able to run and check things out, and I liked hanging out with Katy.

It's hard to tell from this picture, but Cora had a pretty severe allergic reaction while we were in Utah.  Her body was covered in hives, some places she had welts and her lips and eyes were swollen.  For several days we gave her Benadryl while trying to figure out what she was allergic to.  After going through everything, it was the diapers I bought her.  Apparently 2 weeks was enough time that the rash went from regional to a systemic reaction.  Poor girl.  Once we changed brands, it only took a couple days for it to really clear up.  My mom was so worried (I was too!) that the Benadryl wasn't doing much that she paid for Cora (no one in Utah took our insurance) to see a pediatrician that I had gone to when I was little.  He told us how much other antihistamines to give her and said she'd be fine.  

Our last Sunday we went up to my sister Alyse's house.  Will is playing in Nevin's man cave with some of his childhood toys.  Man cave, guys and toys?  Yeah, Will had fun.

But then he got to help walk the dogs, and that made him even happier.

We'd walked quite a ways along the Ogden river and then stopped at a playground for a bit.  The kids played and laughed when Alyse's dog went down the slide.  But in the hustle and bustle of getting everyone to head back, we forgot Cora's special cat named Cat.  Brent ran back and rescued the cat and this was their reunion.

Our last full day we went to City Creek and Temple Square with Auntie Em.  

At the end, we let the kids cool off.

Then we had to say goodbye.

This is a pic of the kids about an hour into the drive.  Honestly, I think they slept about 15 hours of the 24 that it took us to get back.  They were really good kids in the car.

I was so grateful to Stef who helped me drive back.  Otherwise it would have taken us several days.  We had so much fun in Utah and it was wonderful to see family and friends.  I'm not sure when we'll be back since I'm not sure where we'll be next year as this is Jeremy's last year of med school.  I hope it's not too long though!

Trip to Utah

This year we were lucky enough to be able to go to Utah for a few weeks.  And I feel like we had so much fun and took so many pictures that I am warning you now, this is a long post.  Jeremy only had 10 days off before he started his next rotation, but he was able to drive out with the kiddos and me and then flew back after a week full of fun.  Will and Cora loved the time they were able to spend with grandparents and cousins.  For the first part of the week we stayed with my family.  My mom rented a townhouse in Park City for a couple nights and we all had a great time.

Cora and Tama are peas in a pod.  The happiest, funnest people to be with.

We went for a short hike...

but since it was pretty much straight uphill and pretty hot we didn't last more than an hour.

The last day before we went down to Grandmas.  Will was so sad to see his cousins go, and Cora kept asking,"Hey Mom, where's the kids?"  Hopefully we'll plan better next time and get to see them more.

Jeremy and I decided to take the kids up to the Grotto up Payson Canyon.  It was just us and the zoobies that day.

I told the kids that this is where they would ride back to Chicago if they didn't behave.  Maybe that is why they slept most of the way home.

My mom bought this coat for Cora and showed it to her, she immediately put it on (without anything else I might add) and went to snuggle with Dad.  Hooray for Mom's new central air so Cora didn't cook after wearing the coat all day!

This is my Mom's cat Peter.  Will and Cora LOVED playing with the cats.  They really could have done this all day if the cats stayed around.

 This awesome lady is doing so much better than last year and seems to be getting her energy back.  She nearly beat Jeremy in bowling too!  She took us shopping for school clothes for Will (you know, the fun stuff like underwear and shoes!) and out to eat for lunch, I don't know what I'd do without my Mom.  She is wonderful.  We said goodbye to my sweet Mom after several fun filled days of being with her.

We decided to go for a short hike to Cecret Lake in Albion Basin up Little Cottonwood Canyon on July 3rd.  It's only about a mile from the parking lot...only the road to Albion Basin didn't open until the next day!  So Will and Kooy were troopers and ended up hiking 4 or 5 miles (can't remember which) instead of 1.  

Glad they did because it was stunning scenery and so wonderful to be in the mountains and smell that fresh air!

On the 4th we did a lot.  Bike parade with Matt's family...

Then we went to the Sandy carnival and then cooled off in the pool at Grandmas.

Then went to the fireworks where we got to hang out with everyone. Cora loved the music and all of the kids.  She was in heaven.

Will loves his cousins so much and wouldn't leave these two alone.  They had a lot of fun together.

And for that reason, I forgive Chris for his photo bomb.

It was a very fun happy 4th of July.  Then next day we had to take Jeremy to the airport, but the kids and I still stayed for a couple more weeks.   Oh don't you worry, I'll post more pics shortly.  Like within a couple of months.

Last day of Kindergarten

Will was so excited for his last day of school and their field day and lunch at school.  He got himself all ready to go and when I went to drop him off I asked if he wanted me to hang out with him.  The reply was,"Nope, I see my friends, I'm going to go play."  Okay then mister big boy.

This little girl sobbed when we dropped off Will and she didn't get to go too.  Well, now she has all summer to hang out with him.

After school the kids hung out for a bit.

Will is going to miss seeing these kids each day.  I'm so glad he's made such good friends this year, and glad he can still hang out with them.  I'm so proud of Will and how much he has grown up this year.
