My Little Cowboy

Will has loved being with friends and family while we've been in Utah.  But one of his favorite things has been feeding and talking to my uncle's horses while at my mom's house.  Each morning when he wakes up there, he'll hear the horses and say,"We need go outside!  The horses talking to me!"  So we do.

Shawnee let Will sit on her horse for a few minutes, but he wasn't quite up for a ride yet.  We'll try again soon.

Look at that smile.

Most of the horses know Will now and start getting excited knowing that he'll bring them a treat.

Another thing he has loved is all of the tractors.  One of them is missing a seat and he told Jeremy that we need to have the cowboy (my uncle) fix it.

We went to the Genola rodeo and Will stayed right by the fence almost the entire time.  He loved watching the cowboys.

They did a race for kids from 6-9 to catch chickens.  My niece Dani gave it a try but didn't catch one.  This little girl was nice enough to let Will pet the chicken she caught.

It's been a lot of fun watching him get so excited about being in the country and seeing things he doesn't get to see often in Chicago.  Hopefully by the end of our stay in a few weeks he'll be brave enough to go for a ride on the horse.

Crazy long drive

A couple of weeks ago, we made it to Utah for our long visit, after 23 hours in the car that is.  We had heard from many of our Chicago friends that they drive straight through to go home to visit, and so we thought we'd give it a go.  Will was a trooper, but for some reason would not fall asleep in the car.  Around midnight we ended up giving him a Benedryl and he finally went to sleep, and so did I.  Somehow Jeremy drove for a straight 8 hours, then I gave him a mere 4 hour break.  While Jeremy had been driving and I was asleep, I had this dream about almost hitting a deer.  Well, when it was my turn to drive at 3:00, I was on the lookout.  And just about an hour later it was like deja vu.  So luckily I was prepared and missed the deer, however  I woke Jeremy up in the process of swerving all over the road.  Anyway, I was very happy to make it to Utah with us and our car in tact and now we are having a great time with family and friends here.

Will entertained himself pretty good.  I love that he'll make up songs to keep himself happy.

Beautiful sunset over Iowa.
