What a wild ride we've had the last month. Jeremy and I have found out that moving with a 16 month old is quite crazy (who would have thought that since every day with the Bug is crazy). My days off of work were filled with last minute errands and trying to pack up while whenever I turned around Will was helping me by unpacking whatever I had just packed. I was pretty lucky to have family nearby to help watch Will when I didn't really need his help, Emily and Kae are saints. They watched him almost every day our last week and probably put off a lot of things to do so for us. Jeremy was great too because he helped me realize that everything didn't have to be packed just perfectly and that it would still make it if it wasn't packed in exact categories. He also blew me away by reducing his "stuff" that has been in our crawl space for 5 years from 9 boxes down to 1. For a pack rat that is amazing.
We also had some great help in driving out here. We conned Jeremy's dad Kay and our nephew Kyle to drive one of our cars on the long 3 day journey. We found out on day 2 that this was Kyle's 2nd time driving on the freeway. Maybe it was better we found out that way because he did all right and improved by the hour. I don't think I looked back nearly as much on the 3rd day wondering if another diesl would narrowly cut him off because he forgot to push on the gas a little more when going uphill. Dad and Kyle also helped us move all of our stuff into our little apartment. I think that Dad was a little worried that all of our stuff wouldn't fit. He was right, as usual. Good thing for storage units.
I haven't been able to find a job out here yet, so I have been relatively bored, hence the blog that a few people have bugged me about. Poor Bug has been a little bored too, Jeremy and I can only provide so much entertainment for the boy who was always on the go before. He has a little friend in the next building named Serena. For some reason they just like to fight over toys, but they'll get better. We are also on the count down of how many weeks until Will gets to go into nursery...only 7 more to go. Hopefully he'll find some more friends in there. He has already been able to play with some of the kids in the ward at a little football game gettogether that we went to last week. Will and I have started to go on a couple of walks a day, and it has been really nice to get out and learn where important things are, like 7-11. We miss everyone very much, but honestly I think that this is a great adventure and we are having a great time.
I'm so glad you guys decided to start a blog so I can keep up with where your adventures take you in Chicago. Looks like you guys made it out there ok, I'm so glad. So we have a private blog too that I'll invite you to.
